Install on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (ROS Melodic)

Verify that we use Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (bionic) :

$ lsb_release -sc
bionic

Add ROS packages repository to the apt list of repo, add the security key and update apt :

sudo sh -c 'echo "deb http://packages.ros.org/ros/ubuntu $(lsb_release -sc) main" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ros-latest.list'
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver 'hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80' --recv-key C1CF6E31E6BADE8868B172B4F42ED6FBAB17C654
sudo apt update

Install full desktop version of ROS Melodic :

sudo apt install ros-melodic-desktop-full

Add initialization of ROS in the .bashrc so that each time a new command terminal is created , ROS will be initialized properly:

echo "source /opt/ros/melodic/setup.bash" >> ~/.bashrc
source ~/.bashrc

The source ~/bashrc command is just to initialize ROS in the current terminal. After that, ROS will be automatically initialized each time you launch a new terminal.
