IngéBlue, the French institute for training and research in innovation and maritime engineering issuesIn the summer of 2022, the French naval engineering ecosystem created the interdisciplinary institute IngéBlue to bring training and research players in naval innovation together into a single, interregional group. IngéBlue includes 14 higher education and research institutions: 2 public expertise organizations (Shom and Cerema), 3 universities (UBS, UBO and the University of Toulon) and 9 engineering schools (ENSTA Bretagne, ENSTA Paris, ENIB, Centrale Méditerranée, ENSM, IMT Atlantique, École navale, Centrale-Supélec, ESTACA). Based at ENSTA Bretagne in Brest, Margot Provost is the reference point of contact for the Institute's 14 member institutions and their partners. |
An academic and professional career in marine sciences and technologies
Margot Provost holds a Bachelor's degree in biology and a Master's degree in marine ecosystems and bioproduction from the University of Nantes, and completed her thesis at UBO/IUEM (University of Western Brittany/European Institute for Marine Studies) in Brest from 2013 to 2016. Her PhD focused on making better use of salmon by-products, in close cooperation with 4 Breton manufacturers. Her research on marine collagen was then patented and skills were transferred to industry.
These beneficial interconnections between research and industry motivated her to pursue her career along these lines leading her to SATT Sud-Est, a branch of the University of Corsica, in May 2017. This new position included 2 areas: identifying and developing innovative technologies, and representing SATT in Corsica.
For 6 years, she has been developing a network in Corsica, bringing together researchers, companies, project initiators, incubators, institutions, etc. with the aim of creating a breeding ground for innovation. Many invention disclosures and intellectual property titles and rights have been filed, and maturation programs have been carried out in fields such as fishery resources and forest fire detection and prevention.
