More than 200 students live on the ENSTA Bretagne campus, in a building complex that was built at the end of the 1980s. A major renovation project was launched in 2023. Financed under the 2021-2027 Regional Development Contract between the French State and the Brittany Region, the cost of renovating the 6 buildings amounts to 10 million Euros. The renovation project aims to transform the interior layout with new equipment in each studio apartment and improve energy performance to provide students with better individual and collective services.

The dorm rooms have been converted into 14m² studio apartments, each with its own shower room and kitchenette. Customized furniture, such as large cabinets and retractable tables, has been installed to optimize the available space, and common areas have been created on the various floors of the buildings.

This complete renovation of the 6 buildings, which will generate energy savings of up to 50%, includes the replacement of all window and door frames, reinforced insulation of walls and attics, complete renewal of the networks and new generation radiators, all supplied by the district heating network.

Bruno Gruselle:

The overall welcoming architecture of the ENSTA Bretagne student hall of residence has been preserved, but its design, services and comfort have been upgraded to make it more modern and environmentally friendly. We would like to highlight the commitment of the school's public partners in transforming this on-campus residence for first-year and international students, providing them with a comfortable living environment in which to pursue their academic studies.

The inauguration featured a show studio that was once a standard dorm room. This serves as a “sample” to ensure that the work has been carried out correctly. It will then be reproduced in 226 copies in the 6 buildings.
From the start of the 2024 academic year, the 34 studio apartments in the 1st renovated building will be available to ENSTA Bretagne's engineering and master's students. Work will continue on the other buildings until the end of 2027.
