ENSTA Bretagne : projet étudiant en ingénierie automobile
Laurent Lelarge

Automotive Engineering MSc

This MSc program is the only one of its kind in Europe and combines the acquisition of high-level technical skills in automotive engineering with an international program offering a broad array of 6 majors. Choose your specialization and earn an international double degree
Aim

To produce graduates with an international profile who have comprehensive technical know-how in automotive design and vehicle technologies.

Course content:

•   Vehicle architecture
•  Power transmission
•  Engines and motors
•  Structural calculations
•  etc.

An International outlook

The partners of this program are:

  • ENSTA Bretagne, Brest in France (courses taught in French)
  • Czech Technical University (CTU) in Prague (courses taught in English)
  • HAN University, Netherlands (courses taught in English).

The first year, each of the different sites runs an equivalent syllabus, while in the second year each partner offers a specialized syllabus.

- Vehicle Architecture
- Modeling

At the end of the training,

  •  the « Vehicle Architecture » option students are able to :
    • Conduct and lead pre-project studies in close cooperation with partners, clients and manfucturers;
    • Conceive and define technical solutions for vehicle projects;
    • Model  the typical focal points of vehicles: vehicle dynamics, motorization including alternatives and hybrids, the drive chain, etc
    • Test and ensure the assembly feasibility of components and mechanical, electric, electronic and computer elements…:
    • Establish the documents which present an inventory of the solutions retained and the associated risks, taking into account the quality and reliability;
    • Analyze, design, realize, check and integrate the modeling of thermodynamic systems and the associated command controls;
    • Integrate complex system design teams using tools and procedures which are typical of “systems engineering”;

  • Students of the « Modeling » option are able to :
    • Design and/or use simulation tools for scientific computing;
    • Resolve industrial problems through digital approximation methods;
    • Run tests and analyze the results;
    • Simulate models to validate the specifications;
    • Ensure a critical comparison of the simulation and mechanical testing results;
    • Analyze, design, create, check and integrate the modeling of thermo-dynamic systems, from parts to structures;

Graduates of ENSTA Bretagne’s Mechanics MSc will have acquired the national qualifications of a Mechanics Master listed on datasheet 34069 of the French National Register of Professional Qualifications (RNCP).
That said, it should be noted that the multidisciplinary environment mentioned in the national datasheet (automation, control, life sciences, Earth sciences, etc.) is reduced to ground vehicles for the automobile option and to naval and offshore platforms for the marine engineering option.

A Comprehensive High-Level Program

The teaching methods combine theory, practical work and projects, preparing students to be fully operational in the fields of:

  • vehicle and system design
  • performance qualification for automotive systems
  • mechanical engineering in its broadest sense.

Graduates from this MSc work as design, production, business, R&D engineers and so on. This MSc program also offers a gateway to PhD studies.

A part of this program is or can be taught in English. All students may take their exams in English.
