We ask each student to please get their own personal laptop.
If you already have a laptop that you consider powerful enough to support scientific and computational software, you may not necessarily need to buy another one. We would recommend that you test it. If you don’t find it very user-friendly, you could still consider getting a new one.
If you have a Mac computer, you will need to run a virtualized system.
Performance requirements will grow during your studies. To guide you, please find the recommended characteristics below. The recommended operating system is Windows 10. You will need to be the administrator of your laptop.
Minimum configuration:
- Memory: 8 GB of RAM; SSD drive: 512 GB
Recommended configuration:
- Memory: 12 GB of RAM and above; SSD drive: 512 GB and above; Processor: intel core i5 or equivalent;
- Optional: dedicated GPU for students wanting to carry out intensive computing and view high-dimension data
